Food is central to family, culture, and community. It is essential for survival and well-being; it's a way of life, a precious commodity, and part of local and international economies. Food security and food sovereignty are related but not the same. The climate emergency, along with political and economic pressures, put our entire food system at risk while threatening the sustainability of local food businesses and farming. Food security has to do with individuals having enough nutritious food they can afford and it means sustaining the sources of food and distribution systems that we all depend upon.
