(Mostly) Jazz

Wednesday, September 24, 2025 (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

(Mostly) Jazz is a program of jazz standards, with a touch of blues and a hint of classical in this intimate and engaging evening of music.  You'll hear favourites like Sentimental Journey and Where or When, and several duets including one written by country songwriters and made famous by a soul legend.

Edmonton vocalist Cara Lianne McLeod, after two decades of singing primarily classical music, has added multiple genres back into her performances and discography. Her recordings range from pop to blues, with more original songs on the way. Cara hosts In & Out of Love, a radio show exploring love and relationships, which streams worldwide on Big E Radio, and is currently creating a touring show of the same name.

Neville Bowman is a highly respected jazz pianist, vocalist, and trumpet player based in the Okanagan. He’s performed at multiple shows at both the Jazz Cellar and Frankie's in Vancouver, the Vernon Jazz Club, the Interior's premiere jazz venue, and internationally in venues from Tokyo to New York.  In addition, Neville is an accomplished composer, arranger, music director and actor.

Gabriola bassist Brian McMahon is well-known to locals. He has performed with John Capon, Paul Gellman, Leah Hokanson, Brad Shipley, The Lunatics on the Grass, The Skye Douglas Project, The Gabriola Chamber Ensemble, The Melancholics, Nicole Poynter's Poynter Project, newly formed Hot Club Descanso, and more. As a sax player, Brian was part of the now “de-funked” Purple Kush'n Funk Unit. Brian currently volunteers at Gabriola Elementary as a woodwinds mentor in the Concert Band.
