Spoken Word and Short Documentary Screening/Indigenous History Month presented by NOVA Gallery

Aimee Chalifoux,  of Cree, Saulteaux, and Métis descent and living in Nanaimo is literacy coordinator and podcaster has been honoured for her work breaking barriers, promoting multiculturalism and combatting racism. She is an amazing poet and speaker and will be reading on Saturday, June 17 @ 1 pm at Nova Gallery.

Shaya Joseph and Lance Point, along with their Aunt Stephanie Thomas were participants in the Indigenous Empowered Filmmaker Masterclass Nanaimo 2022 presented by VoVo Productions and TELUS STORYHIVE.  The story they chose to tell sought to document the relationship between the experience of their family and Residential School. This short film represents the first time they spoke together as a family about the deep impacts of Residential School.   These amazing film makers will be ahowing their film and speakping about the making of this extraordinary documentary.
