VIRL Reading Circle

Monday, February 13, 2023 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) (PST)

Description

Reading circles provide opportunities for people to come together to read and discuss topics of mutual interest. These discussions can result in deeper understanding, collaboration and innovation for the participants involved.

This is an invitation to participate in a reading circle on the book

Next: Where to Live, What to Buy, and Who Will Lead Canada’s Future by Darrell Bricker. In this book, Bricker distills trends on demographic data and forecasts what we can expect in the future. Bricker is the CEO of Ipsos Public Affairs and is a recognized expert on Canadian trends. Learn more about the book here.

Schedule of dates

Gatherings are held at a variety of local venues including libraries or local restaurants/pubs. Locations will be determined by each group. Participants will be put into small groups of 6 – 8 people to arrange a gathering at a time and venue that works for them. We will invite all groups to a closing event in June (pending the number of participants).

  • March - Part 1 Who we really are

  • April - Part 2 Where we live

  • May - Part 3 Who we’ll be

  • June - Part 4 What’s next and closing event

    Format for the discussions

The discussions are informal and collegial with a focus on surfacing individual and collective learning. When reading the book, identify ideas that resonated with you, facts that surprised you, content that you wanted to explore further with others, things that you perhaps questioned and those that may be valuable for you personally or professionally.
