National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Commemoration Event at the Museum

Description
Come and Honour Truth and Reconciliation Day at the Gabriola Museum Tuesday, September 30, 2025. The Museum Outdoor Timberframe The Museum is open 11 am to 4 pm to visit the SFN Gallery. The Native Plant Trail is accessible at all times. The program starts at 1 pm; please be seated by 12:50 pm. Traditional welcome by SFN Elders Geraldine Manson and Dave Bodaly. Elder Geraldine Manson will share stories of her personal experiences. The Snuneymuxw Gallery at the Museum features a touch-screen with interviews, language information, maps, and stories, with petroglyph rubbings, artifacts, and a whole basket-weaving section featuring a cedar hat made by Elder Dave Bodaly. Fry Bread made by Elder Lorna Johnny Children’s colouring & reading station Truth & Reconciliation book & resource table Reflection walk along the Native Plant Trail A limited number of Every Child Matters Orange T-shirts are available for sale in the Museum Gift Shop. Profits from the sale of the Orange Shirts go to support the Indian Residential School Survivor Society (IRSSS).
